GRRRLS ROCK :
the NW tour 2005

Hava and Mindy: the great organizers.
Phone calls. Emails. Meetings. Phone calls. Emails. Meetings.
Mindy and Hava had organized many things in the past. However, they had NEVER done anything like this before. They started from an idea on the porch. Next thing you know, they were running around like crazy looking for a faculty member to support thier idea for an independent project through The Evergreen State College. There were phone calls, emails and meetings.
Then, with the support of Liza Rognez, thier sponsoring faculty member, they finally felt that the work they'd already been doing for GRRRLS ROCK would not be to waste. The tour was going to happen, they were going to organize it, and Evergreen was going to give them credit for it!
Through many many phone calls and emails and meetings the artists were finally set. (Please see the other side of the page for thier names... they are REALLY WONDERFUL people!!) Now onto booking the venues. No one wanted to donate space. No one wanted an all grrrls show in the house. No one thought it would bring enough money. Mindy was having a hard time finding food donors and housing donors. It looked as though this may not really be able to happen.
You cannot put two single mom's who happen to be Taurus' on a team and expect failure. The plight went on. After more and more and more phone calls, emails and meetings THE SEATTLE CENTER was booked for the Seattle show. WOW! That's a $6,000.00 donation the city made for this project to happen. Slowly, one by one, other believers started to support the project. (Please see the other side of this page for the locations of the tour... without these venues we would not have had a tour!)
With a lot of sweat, tears, hugs and hard work the tour was on the road in November of 2005. Hava and Mindy, the organizers, are also single mothers... so there were THREE children in tow the entire time! Three cars full of women and children headed off for Oregon. Some of us fell in love... with each other or the early mornings. Some of us wished others wouldn't have left the lights on all night! Hot Yoga was a hit for some in Olympia, WA. Friendships formed... lyrics were learned and louder and louder from the corners of the stages each night. In the end, Hava and Mindy realized it was not an end at all... but a beginning to a whole new series of inspiration, dedication and devotion.
